The Lullaby of the Rivers Festival offers live music on three stages — the Front Porch Stage, the Rivers Stage and the Springs Stage. Gifted artists drawn from the treasure trove of talent right here in our local community, prominent performers from the region, and emerging young artists too will provide music and stories throughout the day.
The lineup includes cultural diversity and a variety of musical traditions such as folk, Americana, blues and gospel. Performers are selected for their ability to perform and entertain, and also for their alignment with environmental causes and their ability to blend stories with music.
River Expo on the Plaza
In addition to music and stories, the festival features a River Expo on the Plaza. Lullaby of the Rivers Festival always offers environmental exhibits, and Florida rivers are still the real stars of the show. A River Expo includes other environmental organizations sharing educational resources and exhibits. A Kid Zone on the Plaza features activities and demonstrations that encourage participation. It’s a fun and easy way to learn about rivers. Patterson believes that if we don’t teach our youth about the environment, they won’t grow up wanting to protect it. The Expo includes vendors selling merchandise and activities, including guided river trips and kayak adventures. Enter the festival raffle to win one!
A River Expo on the Plaza offers a Kid Zone and other activities, including a recording booth to share your own river story.
Bob Patterson, co-founder of the event talks about why the festival is now in February. “We were the first to establish a major Earth Day festival in St. Johns County. Now everyone is awakening to the need to preserve the environment and there are lots of Earth Day events. We feel like we started a good thing.” Bob Patterson wants to make every day an Earth Day. He thinks Florida in February is a perfect time to awaken people to the beauty and benefits of nature and appreciation for Mother Earth.
