Electric Chair Tattoo has an alluring mermaid on the side of their Anastasia shop. Two artists, Danny Lee Hammon and John West, worked collaboratively on their little mermaid. Both Danny and John are also tattoo artists at Electric Chair Tattoo. The mural adds a needed splash of color to the area and is considered an Anastasia Island destination.

The blue-haired beauty is one with the sea around her as a Spanish ship sails off in the sunset. The subject of the sea nymph is a nod to the feminine energy brought to the shop by the owner’s wife, Sara, who creates swimwear and shares space with two of the Electric Chair Tattoo Shops for her company Whiskini Bikinis. The Spanish ship symbolizes the historic downtown. The mermaid has two sparrow tattoos on either shoulder that reference the traditions of American tattooing. The simplicity of the traditional design with bold linework, lack of shading, and distinctive characteristics are all present in the mural. Sailors as far back as the 1700s often adorned their bodies with two sparrows as symbols of safe returns and hope for the long voyages ahead of them. This mural holds the symbolism of hope and brings joy to the otherwise ordinary wall.
